Bonde do Role: "Marina Gasolina"

This.is.my.new.favorite.booty.clapping.track!

Please do yourself a HUGE favor and check out Bondo do Role's song "Marina Gasolina". If you don't end up trying to work out some sexy favela loving choreography I will give you a dolla. The mighty, mighty Diplo introduced this Brazilian oufit to many a hungray hipster and for that I say thank you. They will be at Studio B in the Burg with the Mr. Lo and it would be a good idea if you were there.

Just saying*.

*Big up to Brooklyn Vegan for bringing "Marina Gasolina" in my life. Tear. And booty shake.

Never Mind the Buzzcocks: Oh Those Brits!

Aiight, so I'm trolling for shit on YouTube (really, this has to be the greatest creation in the 21st century) and I came across this gem of a TV show called Never Mind the Buzzcocks. It's this weird ass show where British celebs have to compete with each other about music. It's funny, bizarre, mean...and did I say funny? For reals. I mean some of the stuff is so "Blimey!" specific that you might be like, "Werd?", but I'm telling you, I was laughing my arse off. Like how I said arse? I'm totally international.

Anyhoo, check it out. The first set of clips featured Amy Winehouse and her drunk ass and the second set has lil' miss shit talker Lily Allen. They don't give a fuck and I love it. Also the host, Simon Amstell, is my new fake boyfriend. Anyone that tells Amy that she is crackhead to her face is precious. Awkward/cute/funny is the tits. Enjoy!

Amy Winehouse:

Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1OTszWhxN8&mode=related&search=
Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFojd_8rIJY&mode=related&search=

Lily Allen:

Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocmC5IY4GwQ&mode=related&search=
Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEy1a9C-nQA&mode=related&search=

Addendum: Let me change the above comment about Simon Amstell as being my fake gay boyfriend. Yeah, no straight dude is THAT witty and not scared to make Britney Spears cry and tell Blu Cantrell she is hard. Seriously. He would never make it here. Sigh.

Songs of the Day...

...so far that is.

For some reason I felt the need to put my Siouxsie & the Banshees best of jammie on. "Kiss Them For Me" has got me getting my bounce on. Also, "My Body is a Cage", the last track from the new Arcade Fire album, Neon Bible. It's creepy, beautiful and tear worthy. Shit comes out on Tuesday. You would be remiss if you didn't pick it up.

Oh, and Phil Collins' "I Missed Again". Black people love some old Phil Collins. It's in the DNA. Brah had some jams. I mean, he was no Michael McDonald but who really is.

Dixies Chicks & Jenny Lewis: A Good Friday Night

It's Friday night, around midnight...
The mister left this afternoon for Vermont to ski with some buds which was perfect: I was finally going to start writing this Blonde Redhead article (which I should have finished by now) that is due this Monday and you know, be productive. Well instead I got sushi, some red velvet cake and watched Shut Up & Sing, the Dixie Chicks doc directed by Barbara Kopple and Cecilia Peck. I think I made the right decision.

What great piece of filmmaking. More like, what great subjects. Seriously, I want to be friends with these ladies. Ms. Natalie Maines is just a no holds barred broad that is taking names and numbers. If you don't know what this doc is about google it (brohaha over her "comments" about the president, etc.)...for reals. Otherwise, trust me and put it on your queue.

After that I got on the phone with my girl Toni Ann and talked about PDA's and then decided to put on the Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins album, Rabbit Fur Coat, on. Hands down, my favorite album of 2006. Right now "Born Secular" is on. In about a second a tear will come to my eye and I will start thinking about "the good word."

On that note: Have a blessed weekend my tender vittles.

Moving is a One-Legged Bitch With Malaria

Me and the mister are in the midst of looking for a 2 bedroom and I really think I want to slam my head in a wall. It's totally confirmed that I'm an uppity bitch that has certain criteria that must be met. Thank the Lord this man is patient because I would have slapped me by now. Anyhoo, if you know of any great spots (for rent...don't rush us into buying yet, okay!!! That was some New York sensitivity right there) in Fort Greene/Clinton Hill or Park Slope/Prospect Heights I will love you forever. Like after death love. Or I will buy you a bottle of booze. Maybe a malaysian house boy/girl. Whatever you want, I'm giving it.
